Love is love: The special wedding of Gill and Ebony

The couple's love story begins in 2019 with an ordinary girls' night out. Ebony recalls everything started with a glass of sweet red and a t-shirt that had a "Free Hugs" inscription in which Gill was dressed. The night was filled with lots of laughs, glances, and lively entertainment. Before going home, Ebony left her number on a napkin with the letter "E" and left without saying goodbye. Ultimately, Gill was delighted with the new meet, and they later picked up where they left off.

Gill and Ebony dated for two years before saying "I do" to each other on March 19, 2022, over dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse.

Before the proposal, they discussed the topic of the wedding together because they seemed to know that they would be together forever. Gill and Ebony knew exactly that they wanted their big day to be intimate and rustic chic.

Preparation for the wedding took one year and six months. To plan the perfect wedding day, the couple turned to Ashly Gregor with By Invitation Only. With Ashly's help, they found all the vendors they needed and made their special day come true.

On September 17, 2022, Gill and Ebony hosted 100 guests at 701 Whaley in Columbia, South Carolina to celebrate their fairytale love and the start of their new family.

The couple chose a palette of burnt orange and hunter green with blush and ivory accents. Captured in their invitation design, the hues were meant to capture the romance of the event.

On the wedding morning, Ebony wore a stunning wedding dress by designer Riki Dalal, while Gill wore a beautiful ivory suit with a train.

The make-up artist and hairdresser worked on the wedding preparation from the very early morning.

The complete image of the bride was complemented by a charming autumn bouquet by Hola Lola Floral Co.

As for the other vendors, the couple looked at tons of reviews in preparation for the wedding to make sure all the vendors catered to the LGBTQ community and were comfortable working with them. That moment made the preparation difficult because it took some time to find people who shared the couple's views and values.

"We are constantly judged by society on a daily basis. Yes, people are entitled to have their opinions, but those being judgmental won’t stop us from being who we are. We always remain positive, treat others how we want to be treated, and continue to hope the world will see us as we see them.", - shared the couple.

As for choosing a wedding set, Gill and Ebony chose an ivory wedding set. The flutes were personalized with the couple's names and the wedding date. The knife was also engraved with "The Porterfield’s" and the wedding date. And as for the cake shovel was engraved with the phrase: "I love you more today than I did yesterday, and I'll love you more tomorrow than I do today".
